India Visa Requirements for Japanese Citizens (2026)

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from date of arrival with at least 2 blank pages.
  • Scanned bio-data page of the passport as a PDF (10KB-300KB, all four corners visible).
  • Recent passport-size photograph in JPEG (10KB-1MB, 51x51mm, white background, front view, eyes open, no glasses).
  • Travel itinerary including flight details.
  • e-Visa approval letter, printed or digital, for presentation at immigration.
  • Return or onward ticket from India.

How to apply

  1. Apply online for the e-Visa on the official Government of India portal at indianvisaonline.gov.in. [1] [2]

  3. Alternatively, Japanese nationals may use Visa on Arrival, which is available at selected airports. [2]
  4. Complete the eArrival Card online within 72 hours before arrival, at boi.gov.in, indianvisaonline.gov.in or the official Indian Visa Su-Swagatam mobile app. [5]
  5. Fill in the Self-Declaration Form at airsuvidha.civilaviation.gov.in before reaching the arrival immigration counters. [1]
